The Nevada Science Standards can be found here. In July of 2011, the National Research Council and the Committee on Conceptual Framework for the New K-12 Science Education Standards released the draft copy of "A Framework for K-12 Science Education: Practices, Crosscutting Concepts, and Core Ideas". From this Framework, new science standards will be written. These new standards are expected to be released, in draft form, in the fall of 2012. Access the Framework here.
Elementary teachers in Douglas County use Science Kits to teach the major strands of Life Science, Earth Science, and Physical Science in grades K-6. Each grade has three kits, one in each of the strands, with the exception of Kindergarten, which has two kits. Teachers are expected to teach from all the kits in their grade level. Kits are checked out from the Science Resource Center (SRC), which is housed at Douglas High School. Alecia Gifford is in charge of restocking and checking out the kits and she can be reached at 782-5136, ext. 1833, or by emailing her at email@example.com.
The elementary Science Kit Catalog for 2012-2013 lists and describes each grade level science kit. The elementary Science Kit Catalog for 2012-2013 can be found here.
